Admission requirements

The prerequisite for admission is the completion of an undergraduate degree (Bachelor, Diplom, Magister) from the field of media or communication studies (such as journalism, etc.) or a comparable, closely related course of study.

In addition, film and/or television-related practical experience of at least 9 ECTS credits is required. If the degree is not yet available at the time of application, proof must be provided that this degree can be achieved by the time the master’s degree program begins if the course of study is completed properly.

Applicants must also provide evidence of relevant practical experience in the field of television/moving image (internships, freelance work, etc.) totaling at least four months. In addition, a CV, a letter of motivation (max. 2 pages) and proof of profound language skills in German and English are expected.

Experience abroad is desirable, but not mandatory. Three journalistic work samples (moving images) must be submitted to determine special suitability.

Based on the applications received, the selection committee of the program decides which applicants will be invited to the aptitude interview in Hanover.

The final grade of the undergraduate degree, the quality of the documents submitted, and the impressions gained in the personal interview serve as the basis for the selection committee’s decision on admission.
